Pat Garman, That Night - 162

Pat Garman didn't hit a lot of home runs in his five-season professional career. But, on one night in May 1988, he might as well have been Hank Aaron.

Playing for single-A Gastonia, Garman hit four home runs in a single night.

In 66 other games that season, Garman hit just four more home runs. In 233 total games in his professional career, including that night in 1988, Garman hit just 20.

Garman, though, never got the opportunity to hit a home run in the majors. He made it to AAA Oklahoma City, but never made it to the majors.

Garman's career began in 1986, taken by the Rangers in the first round of the June secondary draft out of Cal State Fullerton.

With Fullerton, Garman picked up six hits in a March double header, four hits in one game. In another game that month, he hit a two-run home run. He knocked in five runs in a game the month before and a grand slam in a late-April game, according to The Los Angeles Times.

With the Rangers, Garman started in the rookie Gulf Coast League, but not until 1987. He also just got into one game.

His first extended playing time came in 1988, with 67 games at Gastonia and five at single-A Port Charlotte. Between them, he hit .230, with nine home runs.

Garman split 1989 between Port Charlotte and a jump to AAA Oklahoma City. He hit .290 on the year with seven home runs. He had three hits in one August game for Oklahoma City.

Garman's 1990 season was limited to just 26 games, 19 at Oklahoma City and seven back at AA Tulsa.

He played in just one more season, 28 games at Tulsa in 1991. But he started off that last season with a bang, with a 15th-inning, game-winning RBI in the season-opener.
