That success marked an eight-inning outing, where he picked up his third win on the season, versus six defeats.
"Tonight was the first time my three pitches were working," Goedhart told The Eagle afterward the victory.
Goedhart had enough pitches consistently working to extend his career to 10 different seasons. Goedhart, though, couldn't get them working enough to get himself to the majors.
Goedhart's career began in 1989, taken by the Phillies in the eighth round of the draft, out of Mount San Jacinto College in California.
Goedhart started that year at rookie Martinsville, going 5-5 in 12 starts. He then moved to single-A Spartanburg for 1990, going 8-10 in 28 starts.
One of his 1990 wins came in mid-April, a six-inning effort where he gave up a single run. By the end of the season, Goedhart's manager Mel Roberts talked up the young right-hander as he ran down a list of his players to The Spartanburg Herald-Journal.
"Goedhart, 18 or 19 years old, is maybe a little ahead of himself," Roberts told The Herald-Journal. "Shows great promise."
For 1991, Goedhart moved to high-A Clearwater, going 10-8 in 23 starts. He pitched a complete-game for a July win. Goedhart then got his first look at AA Reading in 1992, 16 starts there.
Goedhart stayed with the Phillies system through 1994, but he never got higher than Reading. He played his final season with them back at Clearwater.
He then returned to the field in 1995, but at independent Palm Springs. He then got one of his last brief looks at affiliated ball in 1996, with the Angels.
By 1997, he was back in independent ball, getting 10 starts at Grays Harbor, picking up a June win against Mission Viejo. Goedhart is last recorded as playing in 1998, his 10th season as a pro. He split that year between Grays Harbor and independent Sonoma County, ending his career.
