Independent Tri-City's Ron Pezzoni stepped to the plate in this June 1995 game, the bases having just been loaded by an intentional walk, The Tri-City Herald wrote.

Pezzoni promptly cleared the bases with a double, The Herald wrote.

"You take that as a challenge when they do that," Pezzoni told The Herald of the intentional walk ahead of him. "They think they can get me out. But I've been feeling more comfortable at the plate lately. I just wanted to get the bat on the ball and get a run in, and it turned out even better than that."

Pezzoni hit that double in his sixth season as a pro, also in what turned out to be his last pro season. He topped out at AA. Pezzoni, however, has since gone on to face other sporting challenges, as a college coach - in softball.

Pezzoni's career began in 1990, signed by the Mariners as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky University.

Pezzoni started with the Mariners at high-A Peninsula. He saw 109 games and hit .267. He returned there for 1991 and saw seven games at AA Jacksonville. That June, Pezzoni hit a double and a home run in a Peninsula win, The Roanoke Times wrote.

"I got some pretty good pitches to hit today," Pezzoni told The Times.

Pezzoni saw time at high-A San Bernardino, along with Peninsula and Jacksonville in 1992. He hit .226 in 27 games at Jacksonville that year.

Pezzoni moved to the Giants system and high-A San Jose for 1993, then AA Shreveport for 1994. He then finished out his career in 1995 at independent Tri-City.

Pezzoni has since turned softball coach and instructor, founding Turning 2 Training Center in Michigan. He's also coached in high school and in college. In 2023, he's serving as head softball coach at Madonna University in Livonia, Mich.
