Manatee Community College's Brad Gregory proved an important part of his team's staff in 1987 and 1988, head coach Tim Hill told The Bradenton Herald in May 1988.
"He's been an ironman for us the last two years," Hill told The Herald. "Every time we've asked him to pitch, he's wanted the ball. He's always willing to throw, and he's talented - you can't ask for more than that."
Gregory soon threw enough to make it to Florida State and then to the pros. His pro career lasted two seasons. He topped out at high-A.
Gregory's career began in 1990, taken in the ninth round of the draft by the independent Miami Miracle out of Florida State.
After moving to Florida State, Gregory started as a reliever before turning starter and then reliever again, The Tallassee Democrat wrote.
"I just take it as it comes," Gregory told The Democrat. "As long as I'm pitching, I'm happy."
Gregory started with independent high-A Miami after being selected in the draft that June. He saw 16 outings, 13 starts. He went 4-7, with a 4.12 ERA.
Gregory then moved to the Twins system for 1991 and played at high-A Visalia. He saw 30 mostly relief outings there. He went 6-2, with a 5.17 ERA. That season proved his last as a pro.
